The club runs various competitions throughout the season which can be either ‘Set Subject’ or ‘Open’. Set subject competitions are those which have a particular theme decided in advance and Open competitions can be images of absolutely anything. The forthcoming set subject titles are listed below.
Competitions can seem daunting at first to new members, but please don’t be put off. Entries are divided into “Advanced” and “Intermediate” levels. The intermediate level welcomes entries from complete beginners as well as those with some experience. Judges are impartial (they do not know who has entered which piece of work), and the aim is to provide constructive comments to help you and others to improve techniques and pictorial skills. Committee and other members will be only too happy to help in any way they can.

In the wider photographic world, the club participates in external competitions, particularly those run by the Chilterns Association of Camera Clubs. This is of great value in keeping us in touch with standards and trends outside the confines of our own club. Members who attend the external competitions find that they learn a great deal from them and gain a lot of enjoyment. The Club has a good record of success in these competitions often against much larger clubs.
